---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Salt
the earth w/ Nothing to gain August 30th/31st @ the Hurricane
Well After Getting drowned in the rain working at my other job working the free Taking back sunday
Show bye the way from what I'm not a big fan , but what I heard they sounded decent they did that "tell all your friends"
song, plus some other stuff I liked the second band on that show better though I forgot their name. Anyways I
got off early, Well I hoped over across the street for of course Salt the earth. I got throught the doors
at 12:00 I missed the first 2 bands, but found out it there was still anthor band playing before Salt the earth.
So I was like "cool" I had a couple drinks, then this band called Nothing to gain caught my ear can we say punk/hardcore
hell yes!! they sounded really really good. They did songs such as "Road rage", What to say", some other
song, plus three covers one Nofx, one Bad religion, and a kick ass remake of the Rolling stones "
paint it black" yeah NTG kicks ass get a chance to see do it, they are really good live.
Anyways after a break it was time for the pitch award winning Salt the earth they
fucking kick ass fuck yes they did!! they played a insturmental named"metal" damn it was amazing, also did
" Still waters run deep" plus a few others. oh yeah ste are doing a cd realese party oct 10th, at the bottleneck...so
yeah check that out, can anyone give me a ride?? yeah I know, I know i suck.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Salt the earth w/ Calico system, Earthen, The James Dean trio @ New earth coffee house 10/04
First up was The James dean trio these guys were really good. They reminded me of a cross of Converge and Coallesce. The
lead singer ever got his head bust open, and a broken nose, Off pure aderanline the lead singer finished the
set. yeah I hope to see James dean again in the future.
Next up was Earthen yeah they were allright, not my type of thing though.
Next up from St. louis was Calico system The lead singer reminded me alot of Darryl of Glassjaw
as in Stage presence, and vocals except he couldn't hit the high notes as Darryl. still yeah Calico system was
still really good. CS music was also very more of a heavier hardcore/Metalcore type sound. yeah I would
like to see these guys again.
Then it was time for Salt the earth, these guys never disappoint really good show bye them I don't know the set
list except I was happy to hear "still waters run deep" damn that song is awsome I was breaking the
"so called" concert/show rules playing air guitar. I can't wait to see these guys again in a couple days.
it's going to be awsome. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oct. 13th @ Eltorreon Dog fashion disco, Die section ate, Isolated fields, Oddzar, and Burning mirror
First up was burning mirror these guys are really werid, but really good at the same time. BM reminded me of old
skool metal, 90's prog rock, and stomp, yeah deffinally a really good band live.
Next up was Oddzar I was not into them. oddzar was like just anthor Nu-metal band that what it sounded like
to me. Their music was not really my thing.
Next was Isolated fields with the new line up, and D.C. now on Vocals. Isolated fields has never sounded better,
they just do kick you ass pure fucking metal metal now, compared to their older stuff which was really good, I just
love their new traditionalonalmetal Isolated fields is doing now. Isolated fields did several song including the
redone kick ass version of "Consistant tourment".
Yeah I will deffinally go see Isolated fields again. I say anyone reading this reveiw in the K.C. get off your asses,
and see a true metal band next time IF playes they will kick your ass.
After Isolated fields Dog fashion disco took the stage, yeah these guys really owned. Dfd stuff reminded
of older System of a down stuff, but way better with better music, and heavier music. Also they reminded me of MR. Bungle,
and a dash of Frank Zappa. I'm not too famalar with DFD song titles, but DFD did 12 or more songs. Really-really
good stuff I hope to see DFD live again in the future.
After Dog fashion disco set, the Bassist of DFD Challanged me to a game of Street fighter 2, I choked I say! Yeah
I got my ass beat. haha.
After the short break, it was time to see Die section ate. DSE did a pretty good set, but really short they
didn't do anything off the three song demo. DSE did do a song I think it was called "Coffin full of nails." plus
about 5 or 6 others. Hopefully DSE will get to do a longer set in 2 weeks w/ downthesun. I still rather
enjoyed the set still, and can't wait to see them again.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oct 15th @ Hurricane downthesun w/ Blood red sun and Pneuma
Well I got there about 7 I started drinking, downthesun guys got there about 10 minutes after me.
Yeah me, Camron, and Justin(Taken in Vain) watched Grand theft auto in real life on the Hurricane's T.V.
I'm still wondering about, how some guy can just steal a Tank??
Anyways on to the show. Pneuma was up first they did a pretty good job, they reminded me of a heavier
Taproot with less clean vocals, and more screaming, good opening band.
Next up, was Blood red sun, yeah these guys rocked metalcore to the extreme. they played several song
two of which had guest vocals one was Sqints(Of Slit), I hope I got the spelling right on the name? Then anthor song
with none other on guest vocal the new lead vocalist of dts Matt Burns. yeah I get to see BRS again in less then
2 weeks same thing with dts. Anyways Blood red sun was really good.
During the break, CUBS LOSE!! IT MUST BE THE CURSE!!
Ok back to the show, it was time for downthesun!!! it was dts very first preformance ever in
Kansas city M.O., plus with dts new line up. Yeah they fucking tore the place up. with songs "Scapegoat",
"Pure American filth", and ended off with "Medicated" dts also did about five or six new songs hella
yeah I love the new stuff!! dts just fucking owned, I can't wait for the 29th at the pub that is going to fucking
kill!! Yes there will be moshing, headbanging, and jumping aloud without the big asshole bouncers trying to choke you
to death.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
downthesun w/ Blood red sun,and Die section ate Oct.
29th @ at America's pub
The show opened up with Die section ate DS8 showed their brutaity Awsome set with songs like "War prayer", and several
others song that tottally destoried.
Next up was Blood red sun once again had anthor good set, BRS also had Squints (Slit) do guest vocals on a song.
Really good set.
It was finally time for downthesun they had a really great set. dts slashed through 9 songs. Also the lead
sing of Blood red sun did guest vocals on Scapegoat, and also guest vocals from Justin (Taken in vain) on the awsome Medicated.
Yes a devastating set from the filthy ones.
downthesun Setlist:
Pure american filth
Sleep
Time is torture
In spite of me
Fade away
Faceless
We all die
Scapegoat
Medicated

Feb. 25th @ Spitfire A Static lullaby w/ Christiansen, and Salt the earth
Well this was my first show in 3 months so I was pretty jaked.
It's werid when I was waiting for the show at the Spitfire. it seemed like I was in the middle of the movie
Judgement night.
Anyways on to the show..
the first band I don't remember their name(I'm sorry) I know they were from lawerance. Anyways they were
a great opener for this show. maybe emo/mixed with Metalcore. yeah they were pretty good up and comming
local band.
(Note:if anyone knows the name of the opener to this show let me know I'll correct it.)
After a short break it was time for Salt the earth, they put on a great set, and I'm also glad to see Marty is doing
good after what happened to him a couple months back. They played " End transmisson", "Treading water", and three or
four others. too bad their set was short, but it was really great set.
then it was time for Scarlet they were allright , they seemed to be anthor metalcore band though they sorta
bored me. ehhh...was not my thing.
up next was christiansen last time I saw them was with Glassjaw back in nov. 2002 , and I didn't really remember
christiansen to well, well it's a good thing I was sober this time around they really are a kick ass band. I wished
I wasn't drunk the last time they play w/ Gj. At least i got a second chance right?
next was a static lullaby, left after their first song, had to catch my bus, and I wasn't digging them ethier.
it's was still a fun time though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
March - 3 rd @ America's pub - Isolated fields w/ Telemetric, and Poor basatards in jail.
first band was pbij, not my thing, they sounded like Creed, so if you like creed go check those guys out.
next up after a few drinks, it was time for Isolated fields damn straight they had a damn good set consisting
the remade "Consisant tourment" plus they played about 6 or 7 others yeahbest band of the night, and the heaviest.
I suggest anyone reading this who's never seen them get of your ass and got see IF next time they play.
the last band was telemetric. I mite have liked these guys 3 or 4 years ago, but my taste have went a differant
direction pretty much. they reminded me of a cross of Taproot, and Incubus, so yeah if your reading this
go see them if your into that.
fun night of drinking, seeing Isolated fields kick ass, and meeting new people, and seeing some old
friends. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Richie Restivo memorial show w/
The Uprights, Alert! Alert!, The hospitals, and Descension
3/20/2004 @ spitfire
Well I felt i should go to this show, and do show my respect to The late great Richie Restivo. Well it was a good
time I saw some old friends, some good bands, but their was no Ritchie in the crowd for what we all know what happened, but
I know he was there in spirit.
First band up was Descension they did one song , and it was aucostic song dedicated to Richie. really
powerful song, sounded like something off of Opeths- Damnnation. Great for those guys to do something like that
for Richie.
Second band up was the hospitals I didn't know what direction they were going with their music Emo, punk,
new wave(like Blondie) well they played a pretty good set. I see if they stay togther, and pactrice
they are going to be a good band.
Third up Alert! Alert! deffinally old school punk rock how it should be done. I really liked
Alert! alert! they kinda reminded me of a cross of Hogans hero's and Black flag. yeah if anyone
is around when they are playing you deffinally gotta check these guys out.
the next band was The upright with they came up on stage with a moniter in the back that said I love richie.
This was ska babby great-great tunes, also Jimmy the kid from Tanka ray did some guest vocals.
he did a really great job. during the set I could allmost feel Richie up there dancing along to the songs.
I picked up the upright live cd as well fucking awsome cd I suggest anyone to pick it up, or see the uprights they
are just tottally amazing.
Also anyone going to see a show at the Spitfire in the near future I suggest putting a few dollars in the Richie
Restivo tipjar. To contiue the dream he had, and to make it reality.
RIP Richie Restivo

AS I lay dying w/ Every time I die, Black dahlia murder, and Scarlet @ Spitfire 4-21-04
I'm going to do a sorta post reply type o sorta review, some dude wrote this, so I replyed....So I decided to use this
as a review.
Off the Heavy frequency board...
1. Extremely long line around the corner... WOW!
2. Scarlet sucked major dick
3. I yelled out Scarlet sucked major dick after they were done, and one of their band members definitly screamed "f*ck
you" back at me
4. Black Dahlia Murder had horrible sound... no justice. They were sick as f*ck, their singer was kinda a turd about
letting kids scream lyrics into the mic
5. Lots of trendy dorks like Every Time I Die and As I Lay Dying
6. These same dorks wore bandanas and pretended to be tough
7. These same dorks didn't know how to hardcore mosh at all
8. During breakdowns, it looked like a gang beat down, rather than a mosh pit... that's how sad these rejects were
9. The show was becoming so lame, most of everyone who mattered left before the show was over
10. Worst show I have ever been to
[Ten count bye xDustin Christx from the HF board ]
[Then my reply, sorta review...ehhh I'm lazy *Copy paste* Yeah, yeah, yeah whatever...]
Yup alot of trendy yuppies up there, fucking I feel you about the kids acting like fucking looking like they were doing
beat downs, and the pitt was awfull most of the night. One good circle pitt that was it. I like the show it self
it was pretty bad ass. I thought the bands did a good job, and put the fuck down. I thought
BDM put the put on a fucking kick ass show.
As for that line, haha I was up in front damn standing for three hours suck, Also i was kinda funny the kids who
were standing out the door like lost puppies after the show sold out, I asked Brain Bomb, "did these kids pay?" he was
like "they should of".
Oh yeah, I gotta tell you people never drink 3 redbulls when your at a metalcore show.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18 visions w/ New transit direction, Eyes of the betrayer, and Arms of agony
4/28/04
Well I got to the venue around like 3, I was solitude for about an hour, and
New transit direction showed up, I talked to them for a while really nice guys.
Then 18 Visions showed up the started jumping on the mooocan at the corner,
jumping on it spinning it around. I over heard the lead sing say Fuck the show,
this is the show
Anyways time for the show
Arms of agony was first really good for band their age, I digged them. Good opening act.
Then it was time for Eyes of betrayer not really my thing, seemed like they
were playing the same song through the whole set. Oh well not my cup of tea.
New Transit direction was up next, kind of poppy for me usually, but I kind
of dug what they were doing, sort of reminded me of Salt the earth. Mixed with pop rock n roll really good for their style
Probably seeing them again on Thursday. I suggest people to check them out.
Then it was time for 18v not
their best set, I guess the lead singer was sick. They did You broke like glass,
a couple new ones, and a few others.
Yeah well my three-day show track is not over yet.
Like Tim Armstrong seyz
See ya in the pit! I think?
Not really
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Isolated fields w/ Equinox, and One degree difference
April 28 @ Americas pub
The show was opened up w/ Isolated fields man did they kick ass even with haters
trying to fuck up their sound. Nothing you can do can destroy
the awesome metal sound of IF. IF did
Consistent torment, and a revamped kick ass version of Lost in the soil.
It was a kick ass set from IF, even if the sound guy did suck.
Then up next was equinox not my style.
Did not dig them that much, in fact I was digging the sandwiches more then them.
Im sorry just cant get into a crossover band mixed w/ Disturbed, and 80s hair music.
I did not get the chance to see the last band One degree difference, because
I had to get my bus maybe next time.
New Transit Direction w/ Indria, and Sevenfold tomorrow
4/29 @ Spitfire
Well I got to the venue rather early after I had some chili cheese fries at
that kick ass Deli Happy Gilmores (haha I love that). Anyways I met up with the guys from NTD, and we were all like fucking freaking out, because of the
Gas cloud thing that was going on. Well I guess it got cleared up around 6. if
you was watching the news you would of knew about it.
Anyways on to the show
New Transit direction was first they did a better Job then on Tuesday, really
kick ass set.
They did about 8 or 9 songs. Really
got the small and I mean small crowd going. I guess the Gas cloud scared
everyone off? Well you miss a really good set from NTD, and great show.
Next up was Sevenfold tomorrow these guys were fucking amazing job, the lead
singer sounds like a cross of Brandon Boyd of Incubus, and Darryl from Glassjaw. Really
good set from SFT. Oh yeah
I remember them from the Free Taking back Sunday show, refer back to (8/30 Salt the earth) but could not remember their name?
Well this was they.
The next band Indira, did not get to see much of them, had to get my bus again,
but from what I heard they were really good.
So those who missed the show, you missed a really good show
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GWAR w/ Bad acid trip, and Watch them die 5/17/2004 @ Granada
I got to lawrence around three hung out for a while, I
just rememberd why K.C.M.O downtown sucks so much.
Oh yeah We need Taco John's back in K.C. again that place is
awsome.
First off was Watch them die they were fucking cool the reminded
me of Lamb of god except with their own style really good stuff!
After a few beers, and anthor shot of Devil's blood Bad acid
trip came on, BAT were allright, nothing new I heard a band like them 2 years ago called Shat. Also
they reminded me of DFD, Mindless self indulgence, Mr. bungle. BAT was sort of boring.
After a short break it was time for GWAR, they had one
of the most awsome stage shows i have ever see they killed Mike Tyson, Courtney Love, a Alien, The Pope, Osma Bin ladan,
T-rex, George W. bush it was freaking awsome blood flying everywhere, including Green blood yeah i was a Green mess after
the show.
After the show me, and my friend, and his bitchy Gf
went to the Wafflehouse all Green they were all freaking out hahaha... Fun day inded Up next Rock metal
fest w/ Given with honor tommorrow YAY FOR ME!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rock&Metal fest @ in Westport 5/19/04
I got to the Beaumount around 5 or 6 waited for a while
to get in
Then finally got in a 7 the first band that came on was
Thrid world sin too bad these guys are breaking up after June 5th they were really good metalcore band, they had two
lead singers really Energtic. the Lead singers were Jumping of the stage, and one of them jumped off the Amp rig.
really good set.
I saw DC, and Travis From Isolated fields
Next up was Pittcore They have a good growler, but he needs
to ditch the Clean vocals. Plus a little more work on their music, I think they could be pretty good. they just
need some work.
During the break DC was like why are youstudring your words,
have you had a beer yet? I was like no. DC said "everone give Joe a dollar." I ended up getting a
beer haha...
Next up was Stitch, Can you say korn with more aggrisive
Screams, I would of like them 2 or 3 years ago. I can't stand that stuff anymore. sorry
Damn it DC kept on pouring his Beer in mine, I guess he's on
a beer diet.
After that Travis had to leave... me and DC decided
to walk around Westport for a while, since we figured out we could go in, and out of the beaumount. then we figured
out we could go into differant clubs.
So we went to Blaneys watched that band for 2 seconds
left...then to the Hurricane...left again...then to america's pub were we got free cigarettes, and sandwhiches, and
water. that band sorta bored us too we went back to hurricane. those bands were alright, but Given with honor
was comming on at the Beaumount. So we left because of me. Anyways DC left half way through Given with honor
I thought they kicked ass. Given with honor was one of the best bands of the night.
After them i saw Raise the remains Sounded like Screamo
except with Nu-metal riffs. I didn't get what direction they were going I wasn't really into it. not my
thing.
After them I went to Blaney's Caught Boomstick nice hardrock
act they reminded me of Sevendust or Living color except they don't do Screaming or growling. BS "you'r a cock"
song is funny. haha. Boomstick are a really talented band for what they do.
After Boomstick I headed back to the Hurricane
I caught the tailend of The Stillborn the lead singer reminds me of Burt from the Used, yeah but they kick the
Used ass.
After that I thought the night was over, but wait anthor band
came on Albino fly They were allright I was tired at that time They were like a Sevendust type band w/ 2 lead
singers. They did a Pantera cover medely it was not done that good. the coolest part of their set was when One
of the lead singers jumped up on the Hurricaine bar, and did half of the song up there. then I watched
some techno after their set pretty boring so I just sat there untill the light came on.
I actully got a ride home too.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6-8-04 @ El torreon Murphy's law, Brassknuckle choir,
Death ray angels, Silence broken
Well last night I went to Murphy's
law show last night...
I got to the venue around 5:30, So I decided not to stand around for 1hour1/2 so I went to see my friend Chris
he lived near the Eltorreon we chatted for a while. so I went back to the venue at around 6:45 ends up i still
had to stand around for anthor 30 minutes. I ended up talking to Ryan of Silence broken for a couple minutes then
went to 7-11 for something to drink.
Finally around 7:15 the doors opened...
First band Silence broken finally came on around 8 or so man they were kick ass!! they did alot of stuff
off of the Even the score Free demo like "Reinstate", "Star and Strips", and "Even the score" plus some others, and
they also did a couple new ones.
During the break i noticed that these people were recording other people what they thought about the local
punk scene, I found out it's going to be a local punk rock DVD comming out later next year. I ended up getting
on it. so i'm going to look for that next year.
Next up was Death ray angels they reminded me of a Cross of Rockabilly, hardcore, and punk really good
stuff I'd like to see them again.
After anthor break it was time for Brass knuckle choir they reminded me of the bussiness, with Bagpipes,
except you couldn't hear the the bagpipes, because the soundguy wanted them to turn them down. I wasn't into them
alot, i think they would of been a bit better if I could of heard the bagpipes.
After anthor break, and sound check it was time for Ny hardcore hero's Murphy's law they had an awsome
show they did "Vicky crown", They also did Circle jerks, and ZZtop covers, plus alot of orginals a couple
of ska type song which were cool, I did a little skanking i haven't down that since I was like 16 haha. Also during
the show the lead sing was passing out yager, and beer to the crowd. I think everyone in the front row had a shot of yager
including me. Good, Good show, Fun, fun time!
Did I say the show ended late
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6/21 @ El torreon Morie, Die section ate, Given with honor, Truth cell, Silence broken, Between hope and Tragedy.
1st off was a replacment band for Necrogazam, Between hope and tragedy
Really good band the lead singer looked like he was 14 or something but his screams sounded like he was a vetern
screamer. really good band, the only thing I think they need to work on is their more melodic music of course
most of the music is not melodic, they have awsome break downs though. Every band on the bill was giving that mad
props.
Anyways, Next band was Silence broken ryan came out with a speech about heavy music they
all the kids hyped up. Damn ryan, and his music speeches, just make me feel all fuzzy inside. They did pretty much
the same set they did last time I seen them. of course they did a amazing job as well.
Next up was Truthcell really heavy band not really my thing though they did a good job though for what they
do though.
Next was Given with honor they did a awsome job , Devin from Die section ate, and the guy from Truthcell
did some guest vocal on one of the song yeah they kick ass. Haha also the lead singer from morie did a moon
job on stage running across during GWH set.
Next was Die section ate, is it me or are they getting more heavy then before, damn the probaly had the best set of the
night they just blew everyone away in my eyes they "Borken hands" among others. only one
bad thing they did none of the old skool songs of the 3 song demo. I like the new songs though. so that was good
enough. guess what? the guys from Morie did anthor moon job during DSE set silly guys.
Anways next was Morie they did a good job, they were heavier then I remember. Anyways they
called mark the big guys with long hair, and alot of tatts that works up at the El torreon, they were saying how he was tired,
and has been working his ass off over last weekend. how he really said he did not want to be working really,
Well they said all the ladies give him a big hug, well none of the ladies would not come out so me and some
other guys gave him a big hug. then after that the ladies came out to give him a hug.
anyways they dedicated a song to him a cover of When doves cry, with The lead singer of Given with honror doing the vocals.
After that Ryan from silence broke was like everyone take off your shirt , and swing them around. so
we did of course haha.
Fun night damn the show didn't end untill 12:45. whiuch is cool, but it also sucks because I usally
get stranded. oh well
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6/29 @ The Bunker Nocturne, Bozo porno circus, Isolated fields
First uop was Isolated fields their set it was really good really got the crowd going for the next too bands good
response they did about 7 or 8 songs like "Consistant tourment", and "Lost in the soil'. hopefull I'll get to
see them again in 2 weeks
Anyways after a short break it was time for Bozo porno circus, a heavy industral band like White zombie, My life with the
Thrill kill kult, Bile type stuff. their music was really good, aside that they had a fetish show with three girls during
their set. they broke out the wips, A chatolic school girl uniform, Sawblades, Dildo's, Clothspins,
Sparks from the Sawblade Needles which they where the girls where sticking themselfs with, and the girl with them. first
time seeing that stuff live. interresting stuff, really good band.
After that was Nocturne basic numetal band with a Girl lead singer she sounded like the girl from
Veruca salt thought. they had a good live set though.
Fun, Fun, Fun show.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7-13-2004 Hawthrone heights w/ Roses are red, and Isolated fields
@ The Bunker
Isolated fields opened the show up with a awsome set that consisted
of newer, and older songs man do they kick ass. can't wait to see them again next week.
next up was roses are red really good preformance from
this Indierock/Post hardcore band from New york really-really energetic on stage, theyt sorta reminded
me of fellow new yorkers Anadivine musically and the energey live of a Dillinger escape plan. I think they
are going to be the next big band out of that area.
Next was Hawthrone heights really good band
probally my favorite Vitcory indierock/post hardcore band now. they reminded me a cross of Salt the earth,
and Silverstein. really good set bye those guys, and the lead singer is a funny guy. I hope those
2 bands come back to K.C. soon.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7-21 @ america's pub Isolated fields w/ Kung fu cowboys,
Conspricy,
I only stayed for two bands because the metro system sucks here.
Anyways opening was kung fu Cowboys not really my thing, but
if you like Green day, or Screeching weasel you'll like them, and should check it out.
Next up Was Isolated fields yeah they fucking owned, doing
"Nothing left", "Consistant tourment", "Lost in the soil", among others. One thing is America's pub needs a new Soundguy
he sucks.
Anyways had to leave after that...sorry to the other bands,
maybe next time?
Oh yeah, warped tour t-minus 2 day and counting.
